jetta wont start

please help. I have recently bought a 95 jetta ran out of gas and hasnt started since any ideas. rolls over just wont fire?

Can you hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when you first turn the key to on position?

disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail to check fuel pressure, check fuel filter, fuel injectors also might be clogged(anytime you run out of gas, some dirt might get shoved up there), also is it getting a spark? use an iductive timing light to check, if it isnt check the distributor, ign coil, and alternator, oh and whatever you do dont go to a stealership

my car has a similar problem-96 jettathe car loses spark from the first spark plug moments after the car is started and the gas pedal is pressed down

any suggestions??
