hey so i finely got my car (1991 eclipse gsx awd auto)running write. it has alot of stuff done to it including a big 16g ported turbo, that i just put in it brand new, and lots of stuff to run it. i do not have my boost gauge hooked up yet but i think i am running about 8 pounds of boost. me and two of my friend took it for a victory drive and lined up to race a 350 Z turbo and i was pulling away from it then i let off. write after that a bmw pulled up and i gunned it and it dident go very fast. i pulled over and one of my costem lines was licking antifreeze from the turbo. i wanted a few mins and started it to make sure it ran good and when i would hit it the turbo would make a loud bad nosiy. do you think i blew my turbo or do you think it is just the antifreeze line. sorry about the spelling im worryed.

what kind of a noise does it make? did the car temperature get hot? you might have fucked the turbo if you ran it without coolant.

let me get this striaght. ure running a 16g, but dont have a boost gauge yet? are you NUTS? did you play around with the the boost using a boost controller yet? Sounds to me that your turbo was probably heating up... can't telll, you need to provide more info on what your cars has.

ok so this is my friends car... he is the one that started the thread under my screen name. he has an upper intercooler pipeing, k&n intake, boost controllerk, 255 gas pump, 550cc inj., 3" turbo back no cat, strut bars, and drilled sloted rotors. that is his "lots of stuff"... yeah he is kinda crazy not to have his boost gauge in i told him to put it in before we put the turbo in but he wanted to wait till he gets his pod holder in the mail. he said he had it at stock boost but i dont think it was. any ways i was the one driveing the car (he has a warrent out for him haha).. it was running great when i raced the 350 z turbo but i slamed it again right after and it had no power and it mad a loud loud wine! i pulled over into a 7 11 and opend the hood the coolant was pouring out of the coolant line that gose to the turbo it just busted the line. the car was not over heating or any thing i mean it must have just busted when i punched the gas the second time.... finaly (this morning)we get it to my house pull out the turbo and the turbines where moveing all over the place and grinding on the side walls bending them a little. i dont know how exactly i fucked the turbo up so fast any ideas? and the guy said that there is a warenty but it does not cover if it is our fault... does any one have any ideas of how to make it look like a factory defect?? thanks

The Motor Is Probably Overheating. Turbos Will Do This To Any Motor Which Explains The Antifreeze But With Turbos If You Keep Running A Turbo Non-stop You Will Fry The Bearings. Take It Easy. I Went Through The Same Thing But It Cost Me An Engine I Was Only Running. But You May Have Just Busted A Line, Get A Better Radiator If You Are Going To Be Using For More Than Just Stock Specifications.
What Kind Of Coolant Do You Have. There Are Coolant That Are Required For Certain Running Conditions.
If I Was To Take A Crack At It I Think You:
-fried The Bearings Of The Turbo,
-and Possibly Got Coolant In The Motor (let's Hope Not)
You Can Possibly Repair It Your Self. Let Me Know If You Have Any Questions

i dont think that i got coolant in the motor i am defenetly open to the fried bearings but i have a hard time beliving that it did because after the line busted the car only ran for about 45 seconds till i pulled over the temp gauge was at normal heat tempature and every thing... i was only running the car hard for about a 2 min. period too so i dont no if that is enuff time to blow it well i guess it is haha but it sucks!! i also think that i did not give it enuf time to get worn in we only went about 10 miles on it!! im trying to get some pics to show on here so you all can see.. thanks every one

Like You Said It May Be Ok But If You Hook It Up Again I Would Clean It Out First Because It May Have Had Something In It. Wd-40 & 3in 1 Oil Should Do The Trick. But Be Careful With What You Are Doing And Take Your Time....biggest Part. If You Take It Apart Remember How To Put It Back Together. Make Sure All Of The Fittings Are Securely Fastened.
Good Luck,
Jim

holy shit. jason_bet please try to use better grammar and spelling. IMPORTMUSCLE, I know you love caps lock BUT TURN IT THE HELL OFF.
Did you guys do a boost leak test, and check if the new lines were leaking water/oil after you installed them? Sounds like a leak was let go too long. The engine is fine if it didn't overheat, as for the turbo, check for boost leaks and secure your lines. There might be the possibility of a seized or blown turbo but I don't know how to check for that.

Watch how you talk to the mods, newbie.
Looks like you found that caps lock key...
Thread starter: Pull your intake, and see if the turbo has any shaft play by gently trying to move the shaft side-to-side and in-and-out. From the whining noise you mentioned, this could very well be a fried turbo.
