While I hate to rob fundage from my Fiero project, my 92 Buick is falling apart and I GOTTA get a new ride. My wife, in what must have been a brief moment of insanity, has finally broke down and agreed to let me get a convertible again. So, I ended up finding an awesome set of wheels:

1992 Camaro RS convertible
white/black top
3.1L V6 automatic
The good:
67,500 miles
Owned by an older woman
AZ car, moved to WI in late 90's, always garaged and never seen snow.
Body is MINT
Top is MINT
Interior is MINT
New front brakes
Tires have less then 5000 miles on them.
The bad:
Driver's side window works but is slow (proably the switch, could be the motor)
A/C compressor is shot (I'd get a r134a retrofit anyway, if I botherd to use AC)

The car hasn't been run in almost 4 years so the owner is letting me drain the fuel tank and putting in fresh gas, hooking up a battery (the old one was disconnected when they last parked it, so there is no electrical damage from corrosion, freezing or shorted cells) And making sure it runs and drives after sitting. Assuming it makes it through hibernation OK, I have decided to buy it. Since it's been parked so long, I planned on doing the following to prevent any mishaps:

Changing the oil and filter, adding an oil additive (such as marvel mystery oil) then changing it again after 500 miles of highway driving
Flushing the transmission, cooling system, and power steering.
replacing trans filter.
Change brake fluid and differential lube.
Changing the in-tank and in-line fuel filters
Flushing the fuel injection system
replacing air filter & pcv valve
Changing plugs & wires
Does anyone recommend anything I didn't mention above? Anything above you would NOT do? Do you know of any common issues with 92 convertibles, 3.1L engines, or automatic transmissions I should be concerened about? This car is a rare find and I'm very excited about it, but I want to make sure I'm making a good investment and I treat it properly.

rotors are probably rusted to hell and possibly warped. also check for rotted brake and fuel lines.

Off hand, did the Heritage Edition come with a v6 or was it just 8's for the anniversary package?

All I know is that the heritage stripes were offered to any 92 camaro for an extra $125, but thats as far as I know.

I believe the Heritage Edition only came in the V6 engine, but don't quote me on that.....that's all i've ever seen...

Why has it been sitting for so long?

Why has it been sitting for so long?

It belonged to my Brother's neighbor - I think it was a "midlife crisis" car more then anything, and after moving to Wisconsin and getting a different car for daily and winter driving, the Camaro got a lot of garage time. It was never "for sale" but she had told me she'd sell it to me if I wanted it. Sadly, the owner unexpectedly passed away almost 3 years ago, and the car remained parked. I don't know what made me remember it, but I checked the other day and her roomate (heir to her estate) is still honoring the deal, and will sell me the car if I want it.

Just checking - Did you mean to say V8 there?
