spraying white: acrylic, lacquer?

I have always had a lot of trouble getting white to lay down thin while spraying from cans or airbrushes when using acrylic; do most people use lacquer, or is there a trick to white specifically?

I also had problem with "acrylic" White. Tamiya lacquer is good (need a good white primer base)

Because white is so light, it just takes more paint to cover.. at least from my experiences. I don't think it matters much what type of paint you use, as long as you use a white primer.

Ya, I'm a little worried about this too, as I'm about to shoot my first white car, a Porsche 928. Should I spend the money on a base-clear system, maybe Testor's new one? Or is white Primer + white Tamiya Acrylic + some rubbing compound good enough?

(Optional gray primer) + white primer (Gunze or DupliColor, but Tamiya will do) + Tamiya TS spray + (optional clear coat) + rubbing compound should do the job.

With most brands/systems I've tried a white primer base is required.
The only exception I've found is 'Cobra Colors' paint. I have a bottle of white sitting on my bench, untouched for over a month, and it still looks like milk. With little or no seperation, very opaque!

I love Cobra Colors paint!
It's an excellent product, I love the color selection, it's a good value and the service is awesome!
