98 trans am Transmission

I need help does someone know whats wrong with my 98 trans am transmission? Its an automatic transmission and today it freaked out on me, when I put it park it stays in reverse. when I turn it on I have to start it in neutral because if it's in park it will reverse automatically. Do I need a new transmission or can this be fixed. Need guidance please help!

are all of your other gears working proberly? your shit linkage may be messed up/not adjusted correctly, i would check there first...it could have happened while driving down the road and some debre or something flew up and hit the linkage... good luck...let us know what happens

My 96 linkage mounting bolts on tranny pan fell out. Dead in the water had to get it towed. Before this happened shifter got real sloppy; N was R and it felt real loose.
