Has anyone ever made there own verticle doors? The kits seem way over priced for what they are.

I was thinking like the countach or diablo, but the McClaren doors and S7 doors are neat, but i think a little harder to do. I haven't seen a custom job done to look like that, and would think the weight would add up quicker.

well Lambo doors would be hard to fabricate because of the type of hinge they use. they have to go out and then up/forward. goldstar doors. well lets just say it isnt something you would want to have if you plan on parking the care ANY WHERE with something within 5-6ft of the door.

The kits are well designed and priced reasonably. It would be much more difficult to make your own.

accually your wrong, the hinges can be fabbed up by any competent machine shop for around $200. You use hydrolic struts that are used on hoods and hatches, finding one that matches the weight of your door and stroke needed is more difficult but not that hard. The automatic ones are a litttle more expensive as they use high power acculators to raise and lower the door.

see this is what I thought. My friend has a set he's yet to put on for his civic, but he wasn't to sure how they worked. I couldn't figure out how the door is controlled opening out to stop the interior panels form interfearing.

I've seen some in my magazines for $300 in the B&W classifieds. So like I said, pretty average price.
