LS,GS...are they fun even tho no VTEC?

Are LS' and GS' fun to drive? (manual of course).. I mean i know that they have less power than the GS-R and have no VTEC. But are they really that bad? Is the difference in power that noticeable?

I'm considering getting a Teg sometime in the near future and i'm juss considering that since the GSR has the VTEC engine that requires premium fuel, i was thinkin on juss getting a LS or GS. That way save money on the car and on gas. :) a big plus for me. but will saving money remove the fun?

btw, considering 2000-2001 Tegs

Meh they are good enough vtec is all hyped when stock anyway.
spend more for the GSR it'll be worth it. but the lower trims can be fun and made even nicer for not much

I was under the impression that they are a lot slower than the vtec GSR and typies (stock of course) I thought a 1994 Acura Integra LS did 7.6 0-60 and 16.0 1/4 mile. Has anyone ran a better on a stock ls or gs?

To answer the question of are they fun, I drove a basic LS model integra when I was looking for cars, and I was amazed at the handling, but then again I was driving an accord at the time. They are fun to just drive, and are a good car to take corners in. I would certainly take it over my accord that I had. But I definatly would want a GSR if I were really serious about speed or a sportier car. The LS integras still have a good engine, with a nice powerband too. Typical honda powerband, higher reving, topend power.

do you HAVE to run premium gas on a gsr.

Yes. I put regular in mine on accident (only 3 gallons til I realized I was pumping reg)... it didn't like it.. lost a lot of performance and it started to ping a lot during acceleration.

What is the pinging? What happens to make this ping noise?

Pinging is when the gas ignites based on compression not when the spark hits I believe. Lower octane gas can't be compressed as much as high octane gas before it ignites. So if you use low octane gas in a high compression motor, you can get pinging and sometimes detonation.

I don't run anything but premium, but now i am for sure not running that other crap. How do you guys feel about race gas? something like 110 octane

GSR is the way to go. the VTEC makes the diffrecne. you will be glade you got it. And premum gas is needed, although the tank is small so you dont feel like u are shelling out too much at one time... GO FOR IT MAN!

it shouldnt destroy it, just dont go it and out of vtec until you use most of the regular out.
