dome lights

any body know of a way to deactivate the dome lights in a 2000 durango. kids are always pushing on the lights and turning them on. one of these days well have a dead battery. would like to still have them come on with door switch or dash switch but not when pushing the lights themselves. thanks.

There ought to be a way to disassemble the overhead light and bypass the switch right at the light itself........never tried this, but if I wanted to do what you're asking for, that's where I'd start.
