i absolutely love those cars, because while everyone makes a huge deal about the 03/04 cobra (which was on almost everyones list in the recent lotto thread) the mach 1 runs roughly the same quarter mile time, and it's N/A, now imagine if someone took the time to supercharge a mach 1.

atleast my car is original, cant say the same thing for the ridiculous amounts of mustangs you see on the roads. Its a "MeToo" car. Someone says hey what kind of car do you drive, they say a Mustang and you respond with "MeToo".

Mach 1s are my favorite Mustang. Solid rear axel, 305 NA hp, and that cool shaker hood.


I prefer them to the new Mustangs. So yeap, if I were a Ford man, and wanted a fast street car, that would be the one for me!

which would means it's a drivers race with a slight edge towards the cobra... I've heard its hard to get the power to the pavement with the cobra.

You know, Jayson hit the nail right on the head. Unlike a Mustang my LeBaron isn't a "me too" car. In 1989 they only made 1,033 hardtop LeBaron GTCs with the Turbo II. Of those 1,033 only 96 of them had California emissions. Sadly I can't break the production numbers down to options and trim. However, the point is that my car is pretty damn rare. I never said my car was better, nicer, or faster than the Mach 1. However, stock my last GTC ran 14.6 @ 98 MPH. Last time I checked, that isn't far off your times.

In any case... :rolleyes: What are the specs on the engine? Is it DOHC? How much do they cost?

I just barely saw that exact same one on the way home from work. It was parked at Stoufers in the parking lot. Looks really good. I wouldn't mind owning one of those at all. They are extremely good looking cars. I'd prefer that over the Cobra. So is that the one you actually plan on going for rather than your GT?

Hmm, I think they are blah. They are fast, but Steve Saleen is a moron. You could do much better on a Mustang yourself for less money.

its a little bit sleeker than your average mustang but not much difference. It just looks unimpressive and common but what better way to create an NA 305hp sleeper in stock trim.

your wrong. the mach 1 is DOHC the GT is SOHC. other than that they are the same engine. and there were only 1033 or whatever GTC lebarons... well you guys say the mach1 is a me too car... well there arent very many mach1s actually, now there are a lot of mustangs, dont tell me they didnt sella lot of normal lebarons or cavys. you guys are talking about mustangs in general with that mach1 and then narrowing your cars down to a special version. and some saleen mustangs have 500hp so they are special. and yeah that mustang looks nice, why you asking... u wanna get it? and the mach1 is 310hp. and you guys always talk about all these mustangs that are exactly alike... well there are a lot of em, but you guys always group the 94-98 generation together with the 99-04 generation... so really there arent as many as you think, but yes there are still a lot. but those mach1's have tremendous potential for power, with little money you can see big gains, good car.

You guys need to realize that there is a reason there are so many Mustangs in the first place. They are a great deal and appeal to all sorts of people. I think Mustangs had a big impact on the recent Horsepower wars rekindling between automotive companys, and for that I can only thank them. I love the Mach 1's, much better than the Roush models and the Saleen. However, my favorite Mustang of that generation is deffinantley the Bullit. I had a chance of picking one up a while back and sometimes I seriously regret it. Im a chevy guy at heart (Notice the avatar) but I have been throughly dissapointed with Chevy for about the last, oh I dont know thirty years? If they actually MADE some of the concept cars they introduce they would be in a much better position.

You may want to take a closer look at an 03/04 Cobra cause there is a a ton of difference between the 2 cars.

i merely stated that the 1/4 mile times were close. i know there are a ton of differences, like one has a rating of 310hp and the other has a very underrated 390 hp.... but they are still running times close to each other. "oh wierd" - stifler

Its more then just that though, lol. The Cobra has IRS, forged internals, and probably lower compression (dont know that for sure). The Mach 1 has a solid rear axle (this is why its a good car in the 1/4) and more then likely more compression since its an NA engine.

Not sure if they both have 6-spds though. The Cobra for sure does but I dont really know if the Mach 1 is a 5 or 6 spd manual.

Yes they did make a lot of normal LeBarons but I see A LOT more Mustangs then I do J-body Lebarons driving around.

i bought a cavalier cause honestly in my state its not the most popular car. In my state the most popular cars are the v8's. There isnt a tuner scene in my state. Its a bunch of hicks who like mustangs and camaros. I was watching 05 Mustang Gt's driving around since before you knew what one was. Dampachi youve turned into a real asshole. You got this stupide ego that your stock mustang GT is fast and something special.
