New KC Lights

I am planning on installing some new lights on my truck, but I'm wondering if it's ok or possible to connect them to my high beams. I live in the country so most times at night when I'm driving there isn't much traffic so I would like to install some brighter lights to help watch for deer. I'm thinking that I can install a switch inside my truck so that it's possible to completely turn them off, but then when I have them on it would be nice for them to go off just when I dim my lights. Is this possible? I have a '95 Chevy K2500 pickup.

Thanks in advance.

If you hook them directly to your high beams you are asking for some burnt wiring. What you will need to do is wire them to a relay. Open w/o 12V+, closed w/12V+. On one side you will have the constant 12V+ from your battery (this will pull probably 20A), on one side you will have your accessory, it this case KC lights, and on one side you will have your 12V+ coming from a switched source (this will be probably less than 2A). Tap your high beam lighting wiring and run a switch inside the cab and then out to the relay. Do this so if there is ever a time when you do not want them on w/the high beams you can turn them off.

If you don't quite follow let me know, I have done this kind of thing several times with the warning lights for the F.D. on my 88 Silverado. I could draw you up a diagram if you need one.

I'm pretty sure that I understand what you are talking about generally speaking. I just don't know all the specifics of wiring; first run a hot wire from my battery to a relay switch, then a wire from the high beam to a switch inside my dashboard then from the switch to the relay, then a wire from the relay to the light? I've never used a relay switch before so is there any tips you could give me to make it work better or easier. How do you buy your wiring and supplies as far as in bulk assortments or just what you need when you need it? I like to have it laying around, but haven't really found any good places to buy a good bulk assortment. If there's anything else you think could help let me know.

Thanks for the help,
Bobby

About how much should it cost me to do this, just so I have an idea if I'm getting the right stuff.

Oh mainly I just go out to Napa and buy a roll of wire and several different boxes of connectors. Also usually any wiring or electrical supply place you can get some from. Yeah you have the wiring down, on the relay there may be a ground terminal too, you will just have to look.
