It has been approximately 25 years since the Iran Hostage situation was in full depth. In school right now we're studying this topic, and I was surprised to find such hostility my teacher had towards Carter and the way he handled the situation.

What does everyone think about this sort of thing? I was not even close to being conceived when this was happening, so I can't really get a full grasp on what was going on, just a few pages out of a textbook.

Don't know since I wasn't alive. I do know that my parents and a lot of other people tend to say that Carter was too soft of a pres. He had his reasoning being a strong christian. I can't really comment however.

I'm sure Yogs will chime in soon and fill us in.

Carter tried negotiation for quite awhile, and actually sent a helicopter strike force to try to rescue the hostages. The mission failed (due to refueling problems and desert/dust caused engine and system failures).

I was in grade school when it happened and I can recall how many people were seathing mad at how Carter sat on his thumbs. Though Carter isn't to blame for the situation (though he did contribute), he did zero to rectify it.

I don't blame your teacher for having hostility towards, arguably, the worst president we have ever had.
