Ok guys.....bare with me now.....I THINK I HAVE SOLVED MY CLUNKERADO PROBLEM......BUT I need your help....please....answer me this one question......Sorry for starting another thread or rambling on.....but just now when I was driving my truck, and just before I was going to park the truck....I decided to see what the 'tow haul' mode is.....so I pushed the button, and stepped on the gas and it feels like the transmission holds the pressure and shifts late......or something like that.....when you push the gas hard, it shifts ever so nicely, there is a bit of jerking in the seat, but THERE WAS NO CLUNKING AT ALL......Please make me happy guys and tell me, that if I was to install the a shift kit like the transgo, and say a corvette servo....that my truck will feel like the 'tow haul' mode? If I was to install this I believe that I would have no clunking at all....PLEASE SAY YES TO MY QUESTION......Come on.....

You know, I noticed that my a/c compressor sorta "clunks" when it kicks on...

Sorry i can not answer your question Silveradoking, but i just wanted to mention that i always drive with the tow/haul mode on becuase of the tire size. It shfts firmer and changes the sifts points and from what i have heard is that not what a shift kit does.........................just a thought.

'....not what a shift kit does...' please don't say this.....So it is ok to drive with the tow haul mode even if you have 16 inch tires....all the time?

I was only questioning weather or not if that is what a shift kit does. I had a shift kit installed on my old 88 K1500 jimmy and it basically seems the same with tow/haul mode on. Hell it was a stock 350 with true dual exhaust and a K&N filter 4:10 gears and 33's and when you walked on it and it shifted from 1st to second it would chirp them.

One more question.....when I install the servo and the kit.....Will I be jerked in my seat? Sometimes, I drive my parents around.....and they would probably go nuts.....I see from people that the best way to go is to add zero or 1 washer, am I right?

One more thing I would like to add....today I tried to drive in the towhaul mode and it shifted fine until I can to a stop sign, then I tried to push the gas and the truck felt like there was no power....I then returned it to drive, and it drove like normal.... Later on, about 15 minutes of driving I came to a stop sign, and then I heard some sort of clunk that sounded like something was damaged.....but it was very quick......anyways, the rest of the way, seemed to be fine.....

Greetings Silverdoking,

I sounds to me like you would benefit from a Nelson or Westers custom tune chip. Putting your truck in tow/haul mode is merely altering some of the programmming and shift points/torque points. But a tune chip by Nelson or Westers will alter your torque management activity and your shift points and your accelerator performance - and do all that without having to add or change any of your mechanicals.
