Just kidding!!!!!!
I think it all depends on the purpose of getting a car. all have different intents, some have families, other like to go fast... etc.
But the new 2002 Q45 would be a good choice.
im too lazy to go find the pics, specs, and info.. someone please go do it for me...

Well, the Caztek is the only obvious choice, but other than that I'm not sure. Here would be my top choices...
'95 RX-7 R2 (and use the rest to modify it)
Lotus Elise
Panoz AIV roadster

I have to go with 3rd gen RX7 as well, with some 18" Volk SE37s, 20B decked out, etc :)
Then again, 60 grand into my Jetta would give me an AWD 400hp widebody monster... mmm...

I change my choice to...
A red Z3 (for my girlfriend)
and a 95-97 Tacoma Extended Cab, 4WD.
I'd use whatever's remaining to mod my truck (6" lift, some superswampers, fun stuff).

Get a 930 porsche from the mid to late 80's for like 30,000 and then mod it with the rest of the money. You will have a 500+hp beast. :)

For 60K you can get a really nice >1988 Ferrari 328GTS or a 1990 348. You would be very happy with either of these cars.

Yes I have a '86 328GTS. But if you want to spend $60K, go for the 88 with ABS.

Here's my 1986 328GTS:
http://b.postmypic.com/b.nsf/Z/328_100KLFHE/$file/328_100K.jpg
You can find cars like this for under $42K. Mine is a Euro model and doesn't have cats, which means that if you live in a metro area that tests emissions, you probably need a US version.

For $60,000, I would buy a Lingenfelter Trans Am with the second performance package. It runs around $55,000 with nearly 500hp.

hey enzo@af, RX-7 is REALLY unreliable, it'll break every time you drive it, and the Lotus Elise is illegal to drive in the US.
I would say the new BMW M3

JD, buy whatever makes you happy. Me, I would try and get a BMW M5. If you offer cash, you could probably get it. It has 400hp, 6 speeds, 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. It is amazing. Or maybe a ZO6. I can't afford either, yet. DON'T BLOW IT ON A SUV, WHATEVER YOU DO!!!!. Yeah, the M5 is a good choice, but do what YOU want.

$60.000 for a M5 will be possible I guess. In that case, I would go for the M5 as well...just look at the car...

Otherwise maybe a Bmw M3 (Cabriolet) tuned by Alpina/Hartge/Dinan ???

I am actually pretty happoy with my Honda, and have no intention of parting with it. Yes, of course it's worth substantially less than $60K, but there are many cars costing twice as much I woldn't touch with a 10-foot pole. Although I must admit that I probably would give it up for an M5, given the opportunity.
As for the SUV thing, not to worry. You will few larger opponents to SUV's in the world. Like just about everything evil on this earth (this is of course sarcastic and to be taken with a grain of salt), they have a place and serve a purpose, but for the most part I hate the things eagerly await their extinction.

If I had 60k to spend my first thought would be trying to find a 94-95 ZR1. Although I doubt they would go for a 60k in good shape, they'd probably be around 10-15k more (maybe). The M5 seems like a good choice, it has everything. It really depends on what type of car you want I guess. I'd take a sports car if I were you but I'm not you I'm me. How about a used NSX , Porsche 911 Turbo, Z06, Viper, or M3. man you got a lot of good choices, it doesn't look like your in a lose-lose situation here:)

you could get a used Skyline GT-R for like $30k here in the US, it will be an R32 probably. and then tune it to be a real monster for the remaining $30k :)

Uh yeah but it would still be a Taurus. JD I think it will come to you soon. Im painting my Suburban right now and I had no real clue what color I really wanted. Blacks cool but shows dirt/scratches etc. A variation of Gunmetal is what Ive decided on doing but it took me awhile to really know thats the color that I want. The same for you with the car. It will come to you.
Good luck
Erik
P.S Im a little upset with the anti-SUV thing man ouch!!

Uh yeah but it would still eat any other car it confronts and shit it out the tailpipe. Plus, the 96-99 Taurus body is pretty cool, if someone made a fast, RWD, V8-powered coupe with its stylind it would kick ass. Hence, my idea.

I'd take also an 3rd gen RX-7 and put a 20B into it:D
TO Gang$tarr: an RX-7 will only blow if zouu don't treat it right. A friend of mine had a '85 RX-7 and did over 120'000 miles with it.
M5 is also a very good choice if you need more space.
Or I'd take a M3 with the E36 frame and put a M5 engine into it:D

You can get a ZR1 in fairly decent shape for under 30 grand...I'd buy a used 1999 Porsche 996 for $60K.

Ah correction you can get a 10 year old 1990 ZR1 for 30k in fairly decent shape. I'm talking about the rare limited production 94-95 ZR1s. Only 449 were made in 94 and 95 I think. Those cars are already collectors items and probably will cost a bit more than just 60k right now. Another good choice would be a used F355, I think they run for about 50-70k now.
