You can cet 6.5" speakers at Wal-Mart pretty cheap. I think the front ones in these trucks are 6.5". Maybe they're 4"

Probably better. Drop a few bucks and get some Sony Xplod! speakers. Shouldn't be more than MAYBE $50 for the pair.

they are 6.5", if the magnets are real big though they might cause a problem with clearance.

$50 speakers from FRY's and my co-workers think I got a new sound system. I think they were too used to hearing blown speakers.....:chair:
If you do it right the new speakers will fit right behind the origonal plastic retainer clips and you won't have to drill anything.

Anything that's originally GM is usually crap.

The Factory Gm speakers are little more than paper..they will rot out very fast, so I suggest replacing them with a good set of aftermarket speakers. You'll be very happy with the improved sound and they will last much longer. DOn't skimp on replacements...go ahead and get a good set. you'll be happy you did it right the first time.

I blew my driver door speaker, so replaced both door speakers wiht some good 2-ways. Shortly after, the one righ behind my head on the driver side blew....the factory speakers suck..and all thats running them is a Sony head unit..

Just steal some out of that Crown Victoria Cop car next door! (see ColoradoSilverado's pic) I'm sure he would be real "neighborly" and won't mind a bit;)

Not to threadjack, but if anyone's looking to replace their headunit, I've got an AIWA CD-R/RW MP3 player with dashkit for a 2001 and wiring harness for sale. :D Comes with a remote and has an aux input on the front (for say, an iPod)
It's still installed in my truck. I'm planning on putting my factory unit back in and putting a changer in the center console (eventually).

Webpage says 'coming soon' but the unit's been discontinued. Paid $150 via Crutchfield.
$100. You pay shipping. No idea what that'll run.
