I am in the middle of changine the water pump on my 99 4.3 4wd blazer. I took off the 4 bolts, the pulley is dangling there. Is there a trick to separating the fan from the water pump? Is it just rust holding it on there? I am wondering, before I apply some force to it, if there is a trick that I am not aware of.
I have done this job on my Monte Carlo, and the fan just slips of easily when the bolts are taken out.
Thanks.

The clutch has to be unscrewed off the pump. Bolt the pulley back on so you have something to work against.

Thank you.
I have been searching old posts, and have found some information.
Now I have to find a wrench that big....I have an idea about how to hold the pulley.

Go to autozone, borrow the Ford clutch fan removal tool... That works well.,.
