94 grand am 3100 engine.
1 mechanic took apart engine to change head gaskets, and sent the heads to machine shop. , that mechanic is no longer working with me. i put the engine back together. according to my knowlage, and the book its all right. now when i try to start, it turns over then bogs over and bogs.............when it bogs out a blue flame, about 1in. long, comes out the vacuum of the intake that runs the brake booster. ive checked the push rods, right. plugs and wires, right, intake seal , all vacuum good.
the guy came back from the machine shop and said the heads were warped, but he fixed. there was alot!!! of metal flakes in the ports, i air blowed them out. is it possible that he machined them too far, and i lost my valve clearance ?????? this car ran before this ?????????????????? please help my boss thinks im a moron !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is very possible that he cut the heads too far and the valves are hitting the pistons when you try to turn it over. I would ask him how much he took off and if it is too much you will need to replace the heads and blame the machinist for not checking the book on how much can be safely removed.
The other possibility is that you may have tightened the rocker arms too tight and the push rods cannot move properly. Also the push rods on the 3.1 are specific to intake and exhaust perhaps you have them reversed although you said you checked them.

Sounds to me like timing issues so far. Be it ignition or valves. Just the heads were removed? Was the cam ever removed? I'm not 100% about that year of 3.1L but if the cam and crank aren't properly timed you'll have ignition timing issues as well as valve timing. Oh and you'd notice if the valves were coliding with the pistons, that shouldn't be an issue.

ill ask the machinest tomorrow, it definitly looked like alot was shaved off. as far as the cam it wasn't removed. timing is correct.
thanks for the help.
