Front speaker grills

In an attempt to do the interior of my car I pulled out the speaker grills in the rear (spyder) and painted them blue.. But I completely failed at getting the front grills out. I have seen people paint them before though.. How do you remove them? I took off the door panel and it looked to me as if they were melted almost into place from the factory.. The nubs on the back were rounded out.. Do I have to mask off the door paper the back and spray away? Is there a better way?

Btw the backs look sweet in electric blue I also got the door handle covers (interior) the same blue.. It took me a while to realize I had to sand them before painting. The paint wouldn't stick and I'm new to this *hangs head in shame*

3 hours to paint four parts... Oh well it looks super nice now.
