Power Window Problems

Hi, I have a 1990 Buick Century Limited Wagon. My problem is the driver side windows. Yes, front and back. My front window used to work breifly, maning it would only roll up a tiny bit, then quit working. Several chords are cut in the door jam. The "hot wire" was cut, then connected again. I cut it to work on it once again. The rear window is a different story. I dont know about the wire condition, but what i do know is that it only goes down, not up. I was told I should use some of that keyboard cleaner in it to clear up the connections in the button. I have had the door covers off and checking them out. all the wires are in their respective positions. If any help can be suggested on how to fix it, that would be great. (Would be nice to know which colour wires do what as well.)
