Concept Car: Ford Taurus Supercharged
Ford says the Ford Taurus Supercharged concept car was developed as a "...sporting sedan for the busy family." Don't know about you, but if we were a Buick Regal, we'd be suing for theft of intellectual property.
The concept car is built on the revised 2000-year Taurus platform. The 3.0-liter, 24-valve supercharged Duratec engine develops 255 horsepower and 240 foot-pounds of torque. It's connected to a four-speed automatic transmission with a 3.98:1 axle ratio. The suspension has been lowered 1.5 inches in the front and three-quarters of an inch in the rear. Extra grip comes from 18-inch wheels and 255/40R18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS Fiorano tires. The interior features minor trim changes, and the exterior gets unique styling. Is this the next Taurus SHO?
Does anyone have any pictures, or specs of this car?? this is the first I have heard of the Tec being supercharged for the taurus...
and yes, I know the article is old.

Well...I'm not sure what you want us to say. The Taurus is dead to the consumer. It appears that they are continuing the Taurus for fleets but that the Five Hundred will replace the Taurus in the consumer market.

LOL...brilliant.
Then no, the Taurus was NEVER supercharged, and it never will be unless Ford has some kind of Taurus revival in the years to come.

can u put a turbo kit on a taurus? i'm thinking you can't cause it might blow the engine from all the compression. plus you would have too modify the headers.

you can turbocharge any car. There are contour owners who swap in the Taurus duratec and turbo it and get close to 400 hp out of it. You do have to use custom exhaust manifolds. Any competent shop should be able to turbocharge any taurus for under $4000, the problem is that there's no taurus owner willing to fork out that kind of money.

What drdisque said.
While it would be neat to have a sleeper Taurus, a turbo/supercharger on the car is just not practical. Like drdisque said, it's expensive (I might even expect that in reality it would cost more than he said), and there are other places your money would be better spent if you want a faster car. Such as: On a faster car.
Additionally you would need a custom PCM and bigger injectors, and given that the Vulcan and Duratec already shred up their respective transaxles, if you start adding 50 or 100 HP all over the place, you're going to have serious problems.
Even an engine swap would likely be more cost effective; unfortunately the Taurus is FWD so you'd have an even tougher problem with getting a transaxle to fit in there.
Possible? Yes. But only if you have too much money for your own good.

as for the article being 6 years old, if you read the first post I made, I commented on the fact that I knew it was old. I was inquiring as to if anyone here had the specs of the car. if they knew how ford did it. I spoke with kenne bell, about there supercharger kit for the escape, since its the same engine. they told me they have nothing for my application. which, didnt answer my question, because I wanted to know if the kit was adaptable to my duratec.
as for the contour owners, I think though, they take the 3.0L block, and add the 2.5L heads to it. make a frankenstein so to speak. actually gives more power than the standard 3.0L.
and..... as to the amount of money it would cost.... yes, you can get a faster car, but why be like everyone else. I thouroughly enjoy and love my taurus. it has been nothing but good to me. I plan on keeping it for a long time. plus, to see the look on someones face, as they get left behind by a big ass family sedan..... totally priceless.
