Oil Pressure Issue

Hi all,

I FINALLY finished installing my oil pressure gauge and unit. I was always trying to figure out exactly where the sender unit goes. I installed it on the back of the block where the oil sensor (?) is. I tee'ed it up and attached the wire to the gauge. The guage goes from 0 - 100 psi. Now the problem: When I start the car, it slowly rises up to about 20, then shoots up WAY past 100psi. I haven't ran the car for more than 2 minutes yet, but I don't think its going to drop down. Is this normal? If not, is it safe to keep the gauge connected? What shoould the normal pressure be? What can the problem be here? Thanks in advance.

When I start my car after a night of parking the oil temp goes to almost 100 psi then after a couple of minutes of warming up it gradually drops down to around 20psi.

After driving for a long time, the gauge stays at over 100psi. It doesnt drop down at all.

So i disconnected it and tried again. It went to 0 and stayed there.

Do I need to ground the wire coming from the sender to the gauge? I tried spliting the wire and attaching it to the chasis, but it shot up to 100 again, even with the engine off. ANy suggestions?
