1987 Civic stalls at an idle

Hello all, hope someone can help. My 87 Civic 1.5 liter engine starts fine and runs fine. Problem is after the high idle is done the car will not idle. It drives fine but as soon as I slow or downshift, the car stalls if I don't keep the accelerator applied. Usually idles @ 1000 rpm. Channged the fuel pump but no help. Would appreciate any help!

i have the same problem and i still can't figure it out. usually before i come to a stop i lay off the gas and brakes and let the car run on what it has. if i push on the accelerator it stalls and if i just let it run with very little gas it idles low but won't stall.

Check the PCV valve. If it is pulled out of it's grommet or not functioning that could be one cause for the problem. JS
