Lowering

Hey everyone,
I'm a newbie and starting to mod my 03 cavalier. I have been researching over the internet and I've decided to go with a Goldline lowering kit 1.75". I know some ppl would disagree, I wanted the Eibach, but I want it lower then the pro kit (1.4") and I don't like the sport kit lowering the rear 2.3". So I think I'll just start off with these and slowly add.
My question is, once I get it lowered I'm going to invest in some 18" rims. I currently have 17" rims with 225/45-17 tires. I'm hoping that lowering it will take away the gap inbetween my tire and the fender, but what size of tire should I get if I want it to be tight, but not rubbing up against the fender when I have to turn? The rims I'm getting are chrome 18 x 7.5, EVO-7 - CR238's.
thanks.
