Exhaust cut out?

I was thinking about putting an exhuast cutout in my 99 Grand Prix GT. Here's the one I was looking at http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PFYC&Product_Code=GN5002&Product_Count=8&Category_Code=GPEXH I want it to be as loud as possible but the exhuast looks crowded under the GP like there wouldn't be room for it till just behind the mufflers which wouldn't be any fun. Here's pics to the underside of a GP http://www.johnvegas.com/Grand%20Prix.htm
So my first question is where is the best placement for the cut out? Second how much do you think it will cost to have installed? Third is this mod going to give me problems with emmisions and the reliability of the car? If anyone can fill me in on this it would help me out a lot cuase I don't want to make a blind jump into this.

:2cents:Just my two cents but to get the full benefit of the exhaust cutout I believe that it should be placed before the CAT convertor and resonator if you have a stock exhaust. Otherwise, the purpose is defeated. Problem is it will probably trigger emissions related DTC error codes and a SES light. You'll need an 02 simulator in place of the aft 02 sensor to fool the ECU/PCM.

In the old days we put the exhaust cutouts as close to the headers or exhaust manifolds as possible but behind the driver's seat because of the exhaust fumes.

Don't know anyone in my area running one, though.

Ive been running one since Ive purchased the car. Its on the y right before the split to mufflers. As said already the best gain will be before the cat. But you having a GT putting it on the y might be better.

I knocked off 2 tenths in the 1/4 with a cutout 14.00 to 13.8's

Yah i found a guy who did it who had instructions and a sound clip. I guess im gonna go foward with it behind the mufflers. I'm really doing this for sound hp isn't really a concern to me I just want the noise. A new question I need to ask is how much does it cost to get the resonator removed and turned into straight pipe?
