DeTomaso Pantera Design Study

I decided to call it a design study rather than a concept. I've been told the word concept is understood to mean a somewhat unrealistic design with exaggerated proportions.
So here is my version of a DeTomaso Pantera GTS if it were ever to come back. I've never really done a drawing in this layout showing a part of the interior. I actually don't draw interiors too well, I need practice on that but it's something I'm going try to incorporate from now on.
The drawing was started and traced with ink yesterday. Today I did the colors using some classic Design Markers I found on eBay and also a few of my newer style Designs. Paper is 11 x 8.5, 80 weight.
Anyway, hope you guys like it.

Well it is better than I could do.
I would have a wider butt w/ a wider wing (not taller wing).
I like your rendering style.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I'm working on another design that I'll post later this week.
knightvision- the markers are Design, no longer produced under that name. They were made by Eberhard Faber but changed to Prismacolor when J. Sanford bought them out. I've only been able to find the originals on eBay since they went out of production. One drawback that you have to cope with is that they bleed like crazy and have a very strong odor.

I like your designs too, but I believe your car would look much better without the rear wing.

Very nice design Suby. I prefer it without the rear wing as well. The back wheel is looking a bit flat on top.

Yeah, I noticed the back wheel damage after hitting a HUGE pothole on the way to work. ;) As for the wing, I tried it wider during the progress but it looked too Lotus to me. The original rough sketch was rounder in the back and had 4 round tail lights but that looked to Ferrari 360. The rear engine cover was originally a big glass hatch like the F430. Trust me, I erased and sketched over and over again until I was content. It was a little frustrating.
Maybe I'll do a Special Limited Edition version with wider fender flares and bigger wing. Yeaah, that's what I'll do.

So I guess they act just like my COPIC markers do. They are alcohol- based, very strong in color and very bleeding.

I have 25 of them now, they're expensive as hell, and I saw that at the Pininfarina Design Center, they have hundreds of them.

Great work, I'm also on the side for a bigger wing.
Looking forward to seeing the "Special Edition" design.

Yeah, I've wanted COPICs for a while. I'd be happy with the basic set of 12 but they're about $50. :eek7:

Suby, it's good to see someone else is still using Design markers.
I've got a set, but have ended up replacing most of them with Prismacolor.
Didn't know what had happened to the Design line, thanks for the info.

Great renderings... love the line composition. Reminds me of Ken Dallison's work (who was my inspiration when I started drawing three decades ago). I always wanted a DeTemaso Mangusta...but, then the Paterea came out. Keep up the great work. Robo

Man, thanks for the great motivation. I've been a fan of many automotive artists and Ken Dallison was one of them. My other big inspiration in drawing cars was David Kimble. I could never do cutaway work like him though, he's a true master at it.
