I am going to swap my performance muffler off my escort because i need to salvage it for a custom cat back project on my hyundai elantra.(the escort is my moms, she wants a quieter car and since my dad gave me his hyundai, you know..)

I want to run it around without the muffler, just for kicks =). Well i am wondering how loud it is? Is it tolerable so i can drive around and have fun without damaging my ears? Is the sound good without mufflers? I mean like quality, not lawn mowerish.

take it off youll see, its loud but your not going to hurt your hearing for just a small run for fun. and I would make it short, becuase you will be heard for many many blocks, probably half mile. if you really want it loud for a even shorter time, run straight headers(or exhaust mani) I did straight headers during my full exhaust swap just for shits and giggles, and man, that is loud and it sounds so powerful and wow, around the block once and in the garage, then 3 minutes later a cop came around looking for the noise.

I have a 94 rally car an took off the exaust berfore I swapt the engine. I was a riot more power and loud worth doing. Except for the $50 noise fine. Took it to court and never had to pay cause it was a noon when I did it.
Oh which reminds me if you live beside a 85 year old woman don't do it.
