Transmission

Ok, I'm seeing a number of probs with the transmissions on the Mazdas. My mother had a 626 which is now mine and she was having a problem with the car cutting off while driving. You can drive it in low gear and it won't cut off. I don't think the hold light is on though. Does this sound the same as most issues you've heard?
