Early Miura for sale

I was in San Diego with a client last week. He's also into cars so I suggested we visit Symbolic Motorcars in La Jolla.

This turned out to be a Rolls/Bentley/Lotus/Lamborghini new car dealer plus a lot of collector-type used cars.

I always thought I'd like an Espada, but they had a '66 Miura on the floor in decent shape and I kept being drawn back to it. It had presentable paint in not the best color (burgundy). Sean the salesman let me climb in and WOW, what a driving position! The windshield sweeps very low in front of you so you can see the ground less than 10 feet in front of the nose with the fenders rising high on either side.

Because it lacks the refinements of the later models like SVs, it was priced at just $139,000. All car dealers, especially those doing exotics, tend to mark up unmercifully, but I don't think you'd ever find a Miura in this condition under $100,000.

I could have written a check, but I told my partner that would be irresponsible. But the cars sticks in my mind. Long-term, its got to be a better investment than a way-over-sticker Ford GT!
