Suspension, Intake, Exhaust, and a nice tune-up or maybe a swap or you could rebuild that d16a6 with...
a better cam
89 integra pistons (or equivalent higher compression domed top)
metal headgasket
ARP head studs
Unorthodox Racing pulleys
Exedy Stage 1 (or 2) clutch
ACT 11.9lb. Flywheel
AEM intake
DC header
DC or Thermal R&D catback

if you know how to swap the motor yourself, all youll need to spend in like $2000, then you can put cams in or something with the extra 500.
i wish someone would give me 2500 to spend on my car

I personally would do a B16A1, which should cost about $2200 (max, this is like $400 extra 'just in case') if u do it yourself... U should have more than $300 left over if all goes well, then do a nice drop (I personally think a swap and a drop would be best all around fun, then add an I/H/E later on since they are generally cheap mods)...
BTW, theres no prob with online motor malls... IF u go with a reputable one! For some people theres no other choice, me for instance, theres nothing in my area that would have JDM swaps...

I dont know where you've been looking, but when I was pricing my B16 swap... I came up with $2200, which includes timing belt, pump, mounts, ect, all included in the 'just in case' money... The swap itself is only 1299.00 + shipping (about $310) from a reputable shop...
http://www.totaljdm.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/engines.displayengine/item_num/JDMHONDAB16AG1/jdm_engines.htm
So thats $1609...
Plus Mounts = $200 (if u look u can find a set of HASport of this price)
So we got $1809...
Shift linkage (I was just gonna modify the existing one, or hope it was from a Civic and would work) = free
And if u cant get a timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and other various things for less than $391 u have problems, I know for a fact U can get all 3 for $150-$160 from hondaautomotiveparts.com... So that leaves u $231 for hoses, the axles ($140), and extra stuff that needs to be replaced... It can be done for $2200...
Lets even add on an extra $300, well say $2500 total for the swap TOPS... If u do it yourself, theres no way it would cost more than that... And if it does, then u should return your engine, cuz your replacing stuff that should be covered under your warranty...
Ive honestly never heard $3000 for a total price of a B16A1 swap...
