What's the scoop on Tamiya Products!?!?

Searching around the internet to order some paint I need, because nobody in the area seems to carry what I need. Every on-line shop I went to says Tamiya's products are "temporarily discontinued" or keep pushing back the date they'll have them in stock. Anybody know what's going on, or where I could actually get some of the paint?

There is a labeling issue with Tamiya paints in California, and until that is rectified, they have stopped importing all paints. I had heard mid April from my LHS, but that has come and gone and still no new paints.
I'm not aware of any problem with their other products, though they can be hard to get for some places (Especially replacment parts for RC cars).
You can still buy the paints from overseas shops, like HLJ.

If worst comes to worst you could always order from one of the Japanese online stores. Shipping isn't too bad if you combine it with a kit or some other product you can't get locally. I order GSI Creos paints from Rainbow 10 in Japan that way - they'll even ship aerosols!
I'm in Australia by the way, your country may have different import laws.

Have you tried:
Best1Hobby (http://www.best1hobby.com/html/tamiya/tatool.html)
They list Tamiya paints in stock. I've placed two orders with them now; one by phone one with their site (PayPal). Both were shipped imediately.

^^^ What he said.
I just ordered some paints from David, and had them shipped standard mail. Because I didn't order anything pressurized paints, he upgraded the shipping to priority free of charge :smokin:
Websites a little slow, but it's very easy to navigate, and he's got a bunch of different stuff

"That kind" of a store? I don't get it.
I found Best1Hobby looking for the Fujimi Lamborghini Murcielago. I see that Best1Hobby is $6.00 less expensive than ScaleRaceCars on this kit.

Best1 is one of those big stores, like towerhobbies and stuff.
"That kind of store" would be considered a little individual shop. It will be a little more expensive, but it's good to support the little guy, and you'll never see service like that out of a big "chain" store.

Ah yes, I see now. At the time the usual shops didn't have the Murcie and Google brought up Best1 pretty early.
I really do still shop at a tiny model shop that I've been buying kits from for 30+ years (Tripple-A Hobby, Wakefield, MA). My oldest brother was winning contests at this shop in the early 1960's.

Don't use Tamiya primer unfortunately hks_kansei. If I did I'd have to travel several hundred kilometers waya from home to find a shop that sells it!
