Everybody wants the Prelude Si. I see them all the time. Sorry to break it to you, but that B20 isn't the one that comes in the CRV-tank...

The B20 with the head that it usually comes with is going to be pretty slow. I'm not up to date with the Honda swaps, but you might be able to put a GSR head on it, then it will make good power.

my friend owns a lude, the b20a5 is an odd motor. i dont think the gsr head is possible. he said he beat the new si civic stock before he went turbo, but yea he went turbo and has had good and bad with it, either way hes pretty quick

i wouldnt get it, not very much aftermarket support at all. And those b20s are kinda like h22's but alot less powerful. To me theyre not worth the money.

pray that yo get a manual transmission one. My grandpa has an 89 prelude si with an auto and that shit is SLOW as balls. It's about half as fast as my car was with a stock dx engine and tranny. Seriously the torque is nice up to like 15 mph but after the the novelty wears off you will realise you are still only going 15 after revving the shit out of it.

Enjoy, you just made a mistake :D

Definatetly not the best decsision... But if thats what u want, u gotta follow what u feel... I keep juggling the idea of trading or selling my CRX Si and getting am EG Hatch, or even an EF hatch... But then I think about just how rare the CRX is compared to the EG/EF hatch... Everyone has them! Not everyone has a CRX! And the more people rice them out and wreck them, the rarer the become...

But seriously..I do like the preludes..the body style and everything. We were looking at one for my brothers 1st car and i drove it. It had that same b20 and I wasn't impressed.

be carful if you do boost on it because my buddy cracked a piston on one of the three engines he's had in it. they do look nice tho, i like the interior, and flip up lights

I am starting to think that if it were not for the B20's Displacement then they would be completely useless. Then again.. if it had less displacement then it would be a B18.. So I cannot say anything there. I just don't think they are all that they are cracked up to be.

You are missing the point. The point of the b20 is torque. A b20 with only 126hp and 133 ft/tq is just as fast if not faster than a b16 with 160hp and 111ft/tq in an EF chassis. However the b20 in the prelude's were shitty and not really the same engine as the one from the crv, they also only came with 111 ft/tq which is weak!

Considering the B20B (CR-V engine) has the same displacement and 22 more ft lbs of torque... And the CRX's D16A6 has .4 less displacement and only has 11 less ft lbs of torque... Id say not... And torque is what u need to pull around those heavier cars... Im sure the Prelude Si is fast in its own right, I personally havent driven them... But it just sounds like its a bit under powered...

You are right, 111 ft lbs of tq is definately weak. It just dissapoints me to see so much tq and so little hp. I guess it would work out pretty good to just boost it or build it up a bit.

B20s are just torquey engines is all... Not really for reving to get that extra power, which is why they dont have VTEC... But slap on a VTEC head and u get the best of both worlds... (theoretically, but there are downsides, such as the bottom end dosnt rev a freely as a block built for VTEC would)

i saw an 87 prelude with a b16 in it. matter of fact, on the second gen lude its actually easier to put a b series in than the 3rd gen, even though the 3rd gen came with that bastard b20a.
