I'm new to the forums but have had my LS for a while now. My dad got a avator an gave me the LS. I love it, I've always loved luxury cars, my first was an infiniti J30 (LOTS OF PROBLEMS, had it for 4 years, 3 of them it was in the shop)...
but anyway my LS has her share of problems...she jus reached 100K...
first...the tranny is very sloppy and getting worse..she hesitates when shifting from park to reverse and sometimes she gets sloppy while driving(upshifting and dowshifting)..i was hoping u guys could help me out with a diagnosis on that because the dealer is gonna charge an arm an a leg just to figure out the problem.
second...the airbag light is on, took it to the dealership an they charged me 71.95 to tell me it was the clock spring. (too expensive to fix there so I'm gonna take it to a friends shop, he used to work at lincoln in the service dept.)
third...theres this yellow/orange light from the auto dimming mirror on the exterior side of the windsheild...everytime I start the car it turns on and stays on...I have no idea what it is or means and I forgot to ask about it when I was at the dealership...my friend noticed it when I pulled into his driveway one night (could it be from the airbag light?)
well i think (hope) thats it any help would be deeply appreciated
Thanks

1st problem might be the transmission valve body and solenoid pack. A few people have mentioned this in the past. It might be worth your while to do a search on this one here and look for the LVC forums. It might be something like trans fluid level or something too.
I have never heard of the 3rd problem...???

The amber light on the windshield is the rain sensor. It's operating normally.
Transmission problems are nearly impossible to diagnose over the internet.

So it's always on? Or is it because my whipers are on auto? it hasn't rained in while. im pretty sure it hasn't been on before..but then again i never knew there was a light there in the first place.

Don't panic, the doctor is here. Put the lime in the coconut and dring em boat up! The shifting problem can probably be fixed with a pcm reprogram which can only be done at a dealership although they have had problems with the valve body's on some later years, but it's probably a program issue. The orange light is a beam that your rain sensor uses to see if water is on the windshield. Now go and enjoy your sweet ride!!! :sunglasse

Make sure you let us know what you find out. Reporting back is what helps us all to learn what's going on. Don't panic, yes, but don't expect miracles from a computer update if the problem is consistently getting worse either. At least then, you won't be disappointed if the re-program doesn't fix it!!!
