Tires

Hi folks, I'm in the process of looking for new tires for my 2000 Intrigue. I was looking at the Michelin Hydroedge tire, or Goodyear Triple Tread Assurance tires. Anybody out there have any comments on these tires? Or might there be other options that I should take a look at. I would like a good rain tire, that handles well, and is failry quiet.

Both tires have similar types of tread pattern so I don't think you'll find much difference between the two; for the criteria you want your new tires to meet, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I've always been partial to Goodyears, they've always given me excellent service so I'd go for the Triple Tread Assurances given the choice you gave.

I recently put a set of tires on our '01 Intrigue. I had a set of NOS Goodyear Eagle ZR60 gatorbacks in my basement that I had installed about two weeks ago and they are absolutely awesome. A great, classic tire unfortunately not available in 225/60R16 any more :(

BUT as for what's available NOW for a competitive price as the tires you mentioned, I would get a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE750s or Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals.

I have had a set of Goodyear Triple Tred on my 2000 GLS Stering Edition since January this year. These tires are great in all road conditions we can have here in Toronto, Ontario Canada. I've went through inches of snow and wild down pours with no problems so far at about 5000km on them. They perform pretty well on dry road as well. But don't expect them to ride quietly. They don't.

I think canatto's right about the noise these tires may make. These tread patterns have lots of little edges which makes them effective for 4 season use however each little edge makes noise when it contacts the road so you may indeed find them to be noisy. The high perfromace tires I suggested have larger, solid tread blocks which will give excellent dry traction, the directional groove pattern will give good wet traction. The contact patch has fewer edges so they won't be so great in the snow (I don't know if that'll be a concern to you), but the noise level should be good.

I have the Potenza RE750s on my 99 3.5. I love them. They are great in the rain and very good in the snow. They are fairly quiet at highway speeds. The small amount of noise I hear I blame on the Intrigue's lack of noise insulation!

don't go with the re750s they have really bad traction if you want a awesome bridgestone go with the G009's they are extremely awesome in both wet and dry traction. I used to work for a tire company and they let us try them out on bmws on a enclosed track and wow is all i can say

Hi guys, I finally got my new set of tires for my Intrigue last week. I decided on the Michelin Hydroedge because they were cheaper than the Goodyears, and were suppose to be less noisy and wear a bit better.

I haven't loged many miles on them as of yet but they handle great in both dry and wet conditions and they look great on the car! As far as the noise level is concerned, I do find them a little on the noiser side, but I was expecting some noise because of all the little rain grooves.
