Painting camaro

Hey guys, I have a 69' camaro...

I just re-did the Cowl Panel, and primered it. I noticed there were some imperfections. It was nothing major, but with a thin coat of paint, you can see them. I know when I get it painted, they are going to re-primer the whole car (because that spraypaint stuff in the can is no good)

Anyways, after they primer and sand the car down, how much coats of paint should go on it?

I have no paint experience.. so humor me.

3 coats of paint, and 7 layers of clearcoat, to get it to shine like mine.

my sig pic doesn't do it justice, go to my gallery and u'll see all the paint pics...

now that i think about it... none of the pics do it justice...

i will post pics when I get all of the panels I need.

Thanks.

Do you guys think that that many layers would cover up small imperfections? (like maby a scratch in the metal)?

Also, if i paint it myself, what would i do is lets say the paint started to run and stuff?

Is there any how-to paint like FAQ thing?
