Well GirlBear,
I really like this work. It is very artistic loose and free.
Have you heard of Claudia Nice?
She is an awesome pen/ink artist.
You can find her books at the county library.
I know cross hatching is a lot of work. I might have hatched the shadow and bumper mouth.
That is just me though
You rims/tires look fantastic.

Beautiful! I really admire your work. I like crosshatching too and so I know how hard it is. Did you draw the outlines with pencil first? If not it's a even greater performance!
Oh and where did you get the reference from? I'm always looking for import tuners/streetracers/underground/lambo styledoors...

Very nice work Girlbear. I like the way you've mixed different pen strokes into the drawing (lines, crosshatching etc) Great job with the vertical door and reflection on the hood.

awesome job. I've found that using a small brush with the ink to fill in the large black areas (opening in grill, shadow on passenger door) really helps relieve some of the hand cramps that I used to get while using pen and ink.

What caught my attention was hurting hands. I've used Prismacolor Pencils for my WWII aviation art because it is so forgiving. If I find new information I can alter the original even as much as 15 years later. Thats how long I've been working on this project. I'm now getting arthritic and it really hurts to do these. I've started using a brace and it helps some. They've got me on some pills I take for it too. It has limited me to how much I can draw in this style. But as long as I have WWII airmen to relate 1st hand incidents I'll keep working in this medium.
Anyone got any handy dandy stop gaps for hurting hands I'm all ears.
As far as the car goes....get it "car goes... :disappoin "
It reminds me of some illustrations in R&T. That' a compliment.
There are two spots that bug me somewhat. The grill opening on the passengers side needs some detail . Since you show it on the driver's side I'd think you'd be able to see something on the passenger's side. If not I'd excercise some artistic license.
I don't know what I'd do with the passenger mirror but it gets a little busy in that area. Maybe darken the passengers rear window post to bring out the mirror?

15 year is just this project. I've been drawing since I was 4. Started drawing watching a TV program called "Learn To Draw." Host was John Nagee. He was big on perspective and vanishing points.
Haven't took a count lately but there are over 33 WWII AA originals that I've kept. That's not counting the 3 or 4 that were so inaccurate they ended up as re-do's. I gave them away. Somethings even Prismacolor can't overcome.

girl, you have a similar look as kustmace. it is nice. it is funky, like something you would see in heavy metal magazine. your style has an underground graphic novel feel.
a crit: the cross-hatching in the interior competes with the rest of the linework, as the strong diagonal lines you put on the seats, with large-ish diamond shapes, overpower a lot of the car itself: the interior should be very minor and less-detailed in this drawing, as it is behind glass. but here, instead, you have made the sloppily and overly-hatched interior draw the eye to it too much. i know you like to use lines, but heed where you want the eye to go.
because pen and ink is so bold, you must be particularly careful about regions that can potentially compete with others; you must adjust the line technique and thickness/ thinness of the lines according to what you are representing: glass, metal, fabric, etc. and you must not have areas of lesser visual importance, like seats, overpowering the nice hood reflections you have created.

Man I want to see you post some of em.
When I work with prismaolor it gets really waxy and thick really fast.
I am bad at it. I have seen some fantastic work done with them though.
Check out cf.payne's work. That guy is a god.

I use a very heavy hand. One reason my hands hurt so bad when I do one of these. Many people that have seen them and aren't familiar with CP's want to know if they are oils. I'll get some up but I getting ready for a show this week-end and I'm pretty pre-occupied with that.

definitely worth the pain. you're like the goddess of car sketching, lol. kinda inspires me to start drawing again...
i remember back when i wanted a Teggy (i was like 14, lol) that was the front bumper i always wanted, so that makes the drawing extra cool to me.

try arnica gel.
OK....As a skeptic I tried the Arnica Gel. Honestly? I was impressed. Results were within 2 mins. and lasting. Do you use it? Regularly? How long have you used it. I don't want to over use it and build a tolerence? The tube I have says 3X daily or as needed.
Thanks for the suggestion.

about 2 years. i use it when i absolutely need it. i don't think the body builds up a tolerance for it. glad it worked for you. it is all-natural as well. keep a tube by your desk. it's good for arthritis pain. i have that in my left knee.
