how much fun is riding hard!!!!

ok useless thread but i'm in a great mood.

left work at 2:30pm and felt shitty. long hard day and now have to ride home feeling tired.

wearing full kit due to early start and bloody cold weather and even wearing earplugs for the first time.

any way since i had the plugs in i couldn't here the exhaust fully (plugs seem to work :naughty: ) and since reading an article on how good the new michelin pilot powers are, i thought i'd test em out.

wooo f'in hoo. hit the gas half way through a corner and she stood up while still learned over and came vertical :grinno:

all the way home i was going hard (very naughty i know) but soooo much fun

What gear and how lengthy was the corner? C'mon, what speed was it... (MPH)... I won't tell. Any rear slides? hehe.

i thought i was in second but it was still first at about 5k.

it was a slip lane. one of those small lanes at intersections where you can turn left anytime with care. wanted to beat traffiic who just got the green light so it was go go gas time.

averaged 90mph and topped out at 170mph on a straight. had to watch out for wildlife so i backed off

no slides. michelins too good for that. just grip all the way

haha.. nice... quick question about rear tires... i have a 97 F3 and it has stock rear is 160/70/17 and what is on it is 170/70/17.. the rear tire is bald as well..u get the picture... and i need a new tire.. i am new to this and i want some opinions...

first should i stick with the 170 or go back to the stock 160

second from what i am told there are 2 good tires that run about the same price... the michilin M1 and a Dunlap...... which tire would u go with and why....

150mph is bloody quick. that equates to 240kmhr and my max speed on the track is 265 before a corner at 200kmhr.

I wish I could ride... it's been unseasonably COLD outside with rain almost every day. It SUCKS ASS.



Oh, and I forget if I mentioned that I AM NETLESS AT HOME so I can't even sit online and look at vids and talk about riding. :mad:

not sure on the tyres you mean but i ran the dunlop d207's and they were good but i've had better. (bit like pizza really)

new favourite tyre though is the pilot powers. better than the pirelli diablo corsa's i reckon

all grip, even in the wet and no misconceptions.

Hey Blayne, would you recommend those Pilot rubbers for my Suzy? I've got less than 2k on these stock Metzelers, but the rear one seems flatten out a slightly in the middle. I'm wondering if it's ok to push 2.5-3k? There are still tread spikes on the side (lack of curves in America's down under).

hey guys.. went to the dealership and got the Dunlop D208 ZR tires... i went back to the stock 160/60/17 and all i have to say is WOW

it handle's like a dream.. when i want to turn it turns.. and i havent felt it slip side to side like before.. (haha f'n scarry :eek7: ) all i know is im so glad that i went with these..

:2cents: i recomend these tires to anyone that wants grip in rain or dry.. i got about 60 miles on the tire and it started raining cats and dogs.. couldnt believe how good it handled wet.. i was scared before to ride in rain because of my lack of experience.. but now i feel comfortable with the bike...

the tire wasnt too bad.. was like $130 + like $35 to install.. took like 40 minutes... this is more than i paid for all 4 tires installed at Wal-Mart for my jetta :screwy: LMAO

awesome choice chub, the 208's are a great tyre until you try pirelli corsa's or these pilots although for the money the 208's are the best deal (in my price research down here).

for Z, michelin have released dual compound tyres with hard centres and softer sides for conditions like yours. may be pricey but you may get twice the milage

ummm.

i'm not sure on that pattern. it looks like it may develop the same probs the sport had. look at the powers' and the tread valleys don't intersect. the sports have the intersections and thats where they wear out while the rest has heaps on it.

have a think about your ride style and what you expect from a tyre versus the cost of the tyre.

what i mean is, i don't ride hard all the time but i do get on it sometimes so i expect grip to be good. i'm willing to pay $360AUS for a rear to do that even when i only get 5000k's. also i have more horsepower than most and the tyre needs to be able to handle it and get the power to the ground

i could pay about $280AUS for a say dunlop 208 or similar but i want better.

as a learner i only went for cheaper tyres because i couldn't afford better and didn't know the difference. i used to commute and my tyres would be worn on the middle and not so much on the sides. so i bought harder tyres to last me.

try the 208's or similar, or even battleaxes which are a sporty commuter tyre. i wouldn't run these due to lack of grip on bigger bikes.

I've put Battlaxe BT-014 on the rear before on FZR. I wouldn't know how it faired, because I only had logged 500 miles on it, but it had a nail on it, took it out, and put tire slime on it, and it worked fine.

I don't ride on the straights by choice alone, haha, but I could still appreciate as much grip I can get. We have sand, nails, gravels, roadkills everywhere. Sand and gravels worry me the most. But yeah, in your case, you need the best with that much rear wheel power, mine is about 65 RWHP @ Sub-390 lbs wet :D.
