Quality of Revell Monogram Kits?

Just wondering how the quality is on the Revell Monogram kits. Looking at picking up a Boss 429 Mustang, but wanted some opinions first.

Well so far I've done maybe 60% Revell kits, 35% AMT kits and 5% Tamiya kits, and so far by FAR the Revell kits have been the highest quality, with the best fit, and in MOST cases the best detail.

The instructions are also fantastic. They're quality control is way better than AMT's (I find all my AMT models have extra molding flash all over the parts) and I don't think I've ever had a major problem with any of the kits I've gotten from them.

AMT on the other hand, tends to have a lot more build options in their kits (street, drag, stock, etc) although they don't label them as having them, unlike Revell. I haven't built the Boss 429 kit in particular, but the two other Mustangs of that era that I've built were fantastic.

Revell is pretty high in my book.Except the Civic hatchback im working on now has a little bi of fitting problems. The headlights are being a real B*@!# and making them look good is rele hard. Other than that revell has good quality

Revell is good, yes. The 429 Boss is tooled in the early(?) 80`s, and it´s not as delicate as their newer offerings. But still, the boss is good, the only annoying thing is that the tires seem a bit too big.
And the front-to-wheelarch distance is a bit to big,when i compare to referencephotos. Go ahead, build it! I´m halfway thru mine.

I built the Boss way back in the 80's when it came out, it's a good kit, it's 1/24 scale as Monogram kits were back then, detail is a bit shy of what they do now, but it's a very decent kit that fit together well. Do the right paint details and do some research and you'll have a great model.

i build mostly revell kits as most of mine come from wal mart. and they aren't 50 bucks a pop. im quite pleased with their kits, i usually have very minimal problems with them

I mainly build RM kits since they have a good variety. So far I've been pleased, but usuaully nothing is left untouched by modification. Great quality I think.

Revell-Monogram kits are pretty much generally good. Some of their kits that were tooled up in the sixties and seventies have a ton of flash and very tiny fiddly details (there was a period of time where every Revell release had multi-piece bodies with opening doors and trunks, and these kits are damn near impossible to build these days). But generally the kits are good.

Revell takes half my collection, which is only eight cars..., but are really well made. I have yet to have a problem with them except for fitting the engine in correctly, but that is probably just my error. AMT's are okay, but I have a grudge against their instructions since they don't seem to be complete. Tamayia, very good kits, but damn expensive and not a large range of vehicles redily available in the shops around.

Almost all of my models (40+) are RMs cuz i like how they come together without much hassle from the parts. I built most of their Mustangs, and the Boss 429 was a pretty good one, i'd build it again if i had the time (it seems like my hours after school are so short) and its got some extra parts in it too so that's always good

Absolutely 100% correct. RM are completely adaquate. Some fall short of good, some are better than good. Absolutely middle of the road. RM kits are the best case of "It's the modeller, not the kit." They can yeild fantastic results if you work hard and so-so results even if you shake the box. If they have a subject you want, get it. It will be good enough.
