Electric Supercharger

Well ive been hearing all this hype about electric superchargers. I know that they will not give you a significant boost in HP butthe would give somethign right? standars airintake for a 5.7 lieter is around 500 cfm. if i install an E.S. that blows 1000-1200 (25,000 to 28,000 rpm) at WOT that should give me roughly 1-2 psi of boost right? (all before the MFA so that air/fuel raio would remain the same.) i am just curious about what you guys have to say.

I thought about it myself a long while ago. and I highly doubt that any electric supercharger is built to hold any significant level of boost... they just wouldn't have enough power to force the air into the engine nor enough sealing power to keep the air pressure from escaping in the reverse direction. for example, let's say that your girlfriend can blow 1000cfm of air out of her mouth (hypothetically) when she whistles. That's fine. But when she puts her hand over her mouth, which would simulate the resistance to air flow that forcing the air into the engine would create, it's a hell of a lot harder to push that air... and even harder to create positive boost pressure. There is no eletric fan in existence that you can fit in an engine bay that is powerful enough to run off a 12volt battery and produce several pounds of boost.... these things are nothing more than electric fans and they do nothing that the engine wouldn't do by itself.
However your girlfriend would be pretty impressive... I would keep her away from me. ;)

LOL! yeah and thanks for not repsonding with "your joking right?" got alot of that and i just want to further educate myself on these things. have you guys heard of the R-ram? http://www.electricsupercharger.com
this is where i got my questions forming

those dyno results are full of shit. the don't eplicitly tell you that the higher numbers are a result of adding their "charger" (because it's not). a couple of the dyno runs show that they added a catback exhaust and some other stuff. it's all bullsh*t. there are a lot of better things you can do with $500 other than get ripped off.

i would believe that this has to be ur shortest response to an electric super/turbocharger question yet...
u usually go into this long thing explaining everything and how they don't create boost, and by the end of the post u are really pissed off lol

OK like I posted in the other eletric turbocharger thread.
ok peeps
A turbocharger DOES NOT INCREASE AIR FLOW BY BLOWING MORE AIR INTO YOUR SYSTEM. A turbocharger compresses the air charge and then feeds it to you engine. It's like taking all the air that is in the room your in right now and putting it into a beer bottle. Still the same ammount of air..... Just more compressed, Which means you have a more dense air charge.

Now a "eletric supercharger just twirls around and does nothing.

In fact I garuntee that when you went WOT your engine would pump enough air to Drive the fan.

OK, the electric junk doesn't work... What are we talking about for the real deal? What % HP does it add, and what do they run $?
Not that I could afford to do this, just curious... all my money is going to fix stupid shit, like windshield wipers, shifters, radio, mirrors...
