two master cylinders???

i have a 97 GST and i was looking at other posts about the problem i am haveing with my clutch and i saw this. two master cylinders?? what is this guy talking about?

slave or master? I ordered a new slave on a hunch... didn't realize that it had an independant master (not part of the brakes) until 30 minutes ago. The slave will be in tomorrow... $20. The master is around $90...

if you have a 5-speed, you have 2 master cylinders. you have a clutch master cylinder, and a brake master clyinder.

the clutch master cylinder runs your clutch pedal and the slave cylinder.

the brake master cylinder runs the braking system of your car.

yeah i figured that out when i looked at it. i acciddently ordered the master cylinder for the brakes today instead of the one for the clutch. but i got if changed. i guess the clutch master cylinder is suppose to be hard to get. the only people that have it was advanced auto.

Advanced auto? Not really a specialty store... can't be that hard to get. :eek7:

hey 4g63t i posted this thread in APRIL! it is now NOVEMBER! WHY DID YOU BRING THIS THREAD BACK?!?!

EDIT: at that time I was talking about locally (in my town) no one had it.
