This a quick build of the Nichimo kit. Could have made a lot better job of it if I had taken my time to correct some things. Overall it's a pretty good kit, mainly the body is well proportioned. I changed the wheels to a set of Fujimi BBS type, and made a new windshield....the glass in this kit isn't very clear.
It's a motorized chassis so it doesn't have a full engine...just a molded upper that can be detail painted and has seperate carbs.
I painted it with Testors Gloss Red lacquer in the bottle and cleared with Tamiya TS13. Testors red is a nice color and could easily be used for Rosso Corsa on Ferrari's or Guards Red on Porsches. Cut the base off of Tamiya's Europa mirrors and used them instead of the stem type, I've seen S1's with either...also used the LOTUS metal transfers from that kit.(had a spare Europa kit).
The interior is basically a full one eventhough it's motorized, I painted it Buff and Dragon Black Acryl.
I made a messy go of it here and there but if you're an Esprit fan this is the best kit of the S1 in 1/24 scale.

Nicely done considering what you had to work with. Wheels suit the car. It would be more pleasing to the eye if the front wasnt quite so squared off. How does this kit compare to the Monogram Lotus Esprit Turbo?

I was beginning to think they discontinued the kit because I was the only person to buy one :D
How does this kit compare to the Monogram Lotus Esprit Turbo?
They're two different generation cars (This Nichimo kit is of the first year Esprit, Giuargio body. The first Revell kit is of the newly re-designed 1988 Stevens body, and the later green one is a later variation of the Stevens body, pre-V8. But overall the Revell kit is worlds better, like comparing AMT to Tamiya.

Agreed, I'm starting the Lotus Esprit 300 Sport now, it seems to be a decent kit.

Looks cool, much nicer than the one I threw together 20+ years ago.
I've seen one of these cars sporting a mid-engine Ford Taurus SHO V6, that had to be a great combination...lightweight Lotus w/the kickass and bulletproof Yamaha-built SHO V6 that would rev to 8,500 RPM :smokin: .

I saw this model in person yesterday, and it is awesome. Great paint, and awesome choice in wheels.
The black throughout looks very 'in-scale' and realistic.
