Ok, my custom made air dam has finally been painted and I installed the lights! The paint colour doesn't match, but I will rectify that!

Look good! Have you had a chance to run the car, does it affect the air flow through the rad? I can't remember from one of your previous posts...what is the candle power of the new lights?
Marc, your hard work did pay off...that's something to be very proud of.
Take care,
Dan

Hey looks good Marc. So are you going to paint it the matching color, or are you going to leave it that silver?
BTW, you need to get a pic at night of you going down the road looking out the windshield with those lights on :)

I know I'm in the minority here. But I have to say it....That is one ugly addition. It doesn't flow at all. It looks out of place.
Sorry man. I'm not trying to be rude. I realize how much work went into it...it's just that I find it ugly.
Just my opinion though. Please don't be offended.

That's cool, EagleGTX. Nothing I ever build will ever meet Everyone's expectations. And, I can't improve something without the help of negative revues. The history of this piece stems from usefulness more so than looks. I wanted real driving lights for nighttime and needed somewhere to mount the honkin things than as I started drawing up ideas, I figured ram air would go nice with that, than I realized that an airbox in front of the rad wouldn't help cooling and so on and it had to be bolt on, not a complete bumper. So in essence as far as looks it isn't perfect, but for it's purpose it's awesome.
And this was built by hand without a jig, so when I get my shop set up at my new place (I currently do not have a garage or workshop at this house) I will get my jigs setup for making full bumpers and spend more time on the cosmetics. It's cool to know at least your being honest.
Hey Ridenour, I'll try to get pics asap, or, maybe even a video going down the road (without a speedometer shot, :D).

Well I'm very glad you didn't take offence. Most people would have told me to go straight to...err..umm...you know. lol.
Anyway. I was playing around with photoshop tonight. I used your car as a base image, and came up with this contraption. To be honest...I kinda like it. But hey....Different strokes for different folks.

Hmmm, that's pretty good. I kinda like that. It's extremly clean looking. This is the exact point I made in my previous post on why there is no sense getting mad at someone for having an opinion because from that point things can be improved. It's a good base to start from, I think I would add harsher/sharper lines to the hood maybe, hmmm.

Hey Marc,
The honest truth here is that the only guy that needs to be pleased with the design is YOU! You are right everyone is entitled to their opinion but in this case your opinion is the one that counts.
That's the great thing about being a car owner today, the materials available today allow for more body style personalization, more than just the custom paint job. I can only imagine the amount of hard work that went into your mod. but just imagine what you would have gone through to make the same mod out of sheet metal.
I do know one thing...if I'm ever your way and I see the GA coming at me I'll know for certian that it's Marc headed my way.
Marc, what's next to top that?
Dan

Yo, marc, have ya thought about a low profile hood scoop? Seems it would harshen up the hood like ya mentioned.

Hey Marc - could you post the steps you took to make this happen. I'm interested to see if it's something I could do.

I love the car, very origional. Those pics with the lights on are crazy, the new lights are definately pretty damn bright! I am actually having problems with my foglights right now.. I posted a thread today, I'm new to automotive forums, but if anyone thinks they may be able to help with it, I would appreciate it a lot. It's in the grand am section titled "2000 Grand Am Fog Light Q" thanks, and keep up the awesome work

Hey forkliftguy, honestly its looking good, the only problem ive found with GRAND AMs especially the the 2.4l n the V6 versions of the body styling its very difficult to find custom body work n accessoraries that work well with GA's ive been looking along time for some rims that will work with the car right, the lights though look good though, its just the body styling with the 3 ridges dont allow anything to reall flow with the car, anyways keep us posted.
