i have a 92 sbc going into my s 10, and its time to buy heads, will the lt1 heads fit on a a standard block? (i know i have to figgure out if i need the vortec or non vortec) but i was woundern if they were the same head? if they are i can pick a set up for under 200 bucks (freshly redone at a local shop thats realy good)

as far as i know they should work

not likely, because LT1 heads are made for reverse coolant flow... which is opposite the standard small block flow... go with vortec heads, they actually flow just as good if not better than lt1 heads...

if my moter happens to be non vortec you cannot put the vortec heads on it, different bolt pattern

Huh?....I assume that bolt patter applies to a 4.3 L as well as a sbc (since they are the same engine, minus 2 pistons)....that just shoots a big ass whole in my plans for my pickup....

vortec heads will work on any earlier sbc, they just require the use of a vortec style intake

vortec heads are fine on any sbc except the lt(x)'s and I think the ls(x)'s too. I have vortec heads on my 1979 350 block. I am not aware of a 6 cylinder vortec head. again, you need the vortec style intake.... see my signature.
