check engine light on

Hello, Our 1999 durango's check engine light came on for the first time this morning and I don't know how to check to see what code is set. On GM cars a paper clip in the correct slots will give you the code. How do you do it on the durango? Tha durango is still running fine with no apparent problems in driveability. It is equipt with the 5.2 and loaded. 69,000 miles. Thanks, Brian
