Need help getting lights to flash when using remote keyless entry

Hey
I just bought a 97 Firebird.
I love it.

My problem is I'm trying to get my horn to sound and parking lights to flash every time i lock and unlock the car using the remote.
My owners manual tells me how to do this but its not working.
It tells me to:
Put your key in the ignition and turn it to the RUN position to disarm the Vehicle and Content Theft-Deterrent System.
Turn the ignition to the OFF position
Remove theh RADIO fuse.
Put the ignition in the ACC position.

You should hear a chime to verify that the system is in programming mode. If the chime sounds once you will be able to program Exit Lighting, Delayed Illumination, Last Door Closed Locking and Lockout Prevention only.
If the chime sounds twice and your vehicle is equipped with the vehicle and content theft-deterrent system, you will also be able to set Remote Lock Control Verification, Arming Method, Arming Verification, Driver's Door Delay and Shock Sensor Enable.

When i follow these steps I get no chime. At first I accidentally removed the RADIO ACC fuse, but then tried it again a few times with the correct RADIO fuse and got nothing.

Assuming I did hear 2 chimes I am then supposed to press the UNLOCK switch on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter
Count the number of chimes you hear. The number of chimes tells you which mode your vehicle is set for. (I want mode 5)
Press the UNLOCK switch on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter until you hear the number of chimes that correspond to the mode selection you want.

Can anyone help me?

I got a 1995 TA 2 months ago and it didn't come with a remote so I ordered it from Keylessride.com, along with instructions ($14.95)to program it. Turned out the car didn't have keyless entry installed. Anyway if you want I'll send the instructions they emailed me- it's a GIF file so I'd have to email it or do a lot of typing.
