93 Caviler 2.2 Timing??

Is there any adjustment for timing on a 93 caviler.. I have been told by back yard mechanics to adjust the timing but I don't know if you can... Please shed light or spark on this problem... Thanks Spoonman

2.2 with coil packs

It is not adjustable on this car. If you have combustion knock you will need to look at other causes.
1.Make sure you have the right plugs.
2.Check your operating temperature.
3. Has the cylinder head been milled in the past raising compression ratio?
4. Is the EGR working properly?
5. Is the fuel pressure proper(low can make it run lean).
6. Check for vacuum leaks.
7. Have the MAP sensor tested. You can do this yourself, a Haynes manual will have instructions.
