ok i have several questions concernen the small block 350 swap i am getting ready to do:
i know i need the computer, im going to use an obd I computer instead of my obd2 that is currently on the truck (98 and the block is a 92) how hard will the intereor lighting be, ie my indicator for shift is digital
the block was sold as a short block, any suggestions on something good i could pick up from a junk yard (overboard i looked into that company and i had a buddie of mine tell me that it would be atleast a grand) can i cross aluminum heads with the cast iron block? im wanting to do some old camaro or vette heads (by old im meaning 92 or newer), but if its going to cause more headach then reward, its not worth it to me
transmission, should i use a 700r4 or a 350 turbo? it will be close to a daily driver, so im not as concerned about speed as keeping my miles to the gallon in the double digets
and will my accesories from my 4.3l work on this block? i mean going from a 98 4.3 to the 92 5.7, the alternater, oil pump, water pump will work right?
And finally, it was originally a tb setup, should i just get the tb manifold, or would something "better" fit, i know better is an opinion, but im wanting more of a multiport over a tb
TIA to all
Doug

The W and Z has nothing to do with if it is a vortec. The W was a high end more HP w/cpi intake. All S10 & S10 Blazers 92 & later 4X4 had the W motors. Vortec engines came out in 92, vortec heads came out in 95. You will find the block# on the right side that will tell you if it is a W or Z engine.
A 834#is a W engine. You can find this on any site that has chevy block#s. Hope this helped. I am putting a 3.8 series 2 engine in a 92 Blazer, it came out of a 97 Camaro. With afew mods this little engine is at almost 300HP, But still on hiway miles great on gas!

300hp, holy horsepower batman, aren't those things rated at 230 factory....What "few" mods did you do, a turbo????....I am not doubting you, I'm just curious.
Oh and use the 700R4 of you want milage, it has 4 gears instead of the Turbo-350's 3 gears....

I'm doing the 5.7 vortec swap within a month... Sticking with an ODBII ecm. (using a k1500 ecm and harness). It's damn near plug and play. DM, the problem with using an ODBI ecm is your gauges.. an odbi ecm will not drive the 98 gauges because the gauges rely on the bcm and ecm/pcm to drive the signals. If you're going with an odbi ecm, check dakota digital for gauges. They do custom work that will fit in your existing dash. Be aware as well that in the US disconnecting the airbags like that (odbi won't drive your airbags) is illegal. (not saying people don't get away with it every day). If you're going with a vortec, get the 98/99 escalade harness and ecm, it will be a plug and play deal, same if you get an lt1 motor...

yeah, around 230, ive put flat top pistons in, got 58cc cumbustion chamber cylender heads, haven a cam ground for my by either gm or comp cam, callen them and tellen them EXACTLY what im running from the breaks to radio, and they can get me to where every thing will be able to be on/running and me not stall out. im also getting injectors from a corvette and timeing gears, those are for the nois though. rlith, i wound up getting a 96+ intake setup, so ill be using obdII also, if you run into some searious problems, let me know, so i can avoid them

Just get the matching harness and you should be fine... What motor are you using?
