Confused about my 98 rodeo

I recently purchased a 2.2L Standard 1998 Rodeo with 74000 miles on it. I paid close to 5000 (did i pay too much.) Well i've been reading through some threads and i think it mentioned 3 things that have to be done. PVC, EGR, and rings via Sea Foam. I have no idea about any of them. What is EGR? PVC? Sea Foam? Manual doesn't say anything about that. The starter also went today. Can start it by pushing the clutch a couple of times with the key in the start mode, but am i damaging something? What's the best way to change starter, or have a mechanic do it? i love this truck, but having second thoughts. Any help, should i keep the SUV? Appreciate any help, i commute 75 miles a day and i thought a 4 cyl SUV would be good on gas. Oh yeah, i have manual windows and i can pull the window down with my hand on the glass. meaning anyone can open it. once again thanks for any help

the three things you mentioned are common fixes for the isuzu 3.2 not the gm 2.2L

2.2L you may get 1-2 MPG better then the 3.2L

if you don't really need an SUV for towing hauling then maybe a civic or the likes will fit the ticket for the long commute

The problem with the 2.2L 4-cylinder and the reason they don't get much better mileage then the 3.2L, is the fact that that engine's lugging a fairly heavy vehicle. It's a good thing you got the manual and not an auto, at least that'll give you more power where you need it.

I can't tell you anything about the 2.2L with the exception that the timing belt MUST be done by the book recommendation as they are known for breaking on the 2.2L's and causing bent valves ($$$$).

My advise is to keep it in good running condition, which you are investigating, and keep the psi correct in those tires, that of all things, will help your mpg.

Keep looking there are past posts, and people who will post in regards to the 2.2L, it's just not a common purchase in regards to the Rodeo's.
