I did a search but didn't find any information on the 87 water pump. I have a friend who has and 87 Lesabre and his waterpump is shot. When i take the belt off it wobbles a lot. It looks pretty strait forward to change but i have 2 questions. It does not look like the engine mount goes around the water pump in this year, but i want to be sure. Also. Did they still use the Plastic insert on the intake into the engine?

Looks like it will be an easy job, but i want to make sure. Thanks in advance for the help.

This is one of the easiest to replace. Have done many through the years of this type '86-'91. No mount in the way, just drain radiator and remove the serpentine belt, remove several bolts(some may need sealant etc.) and replace. The wobble you found is the bearing being shot. Some will leak first, others the bearing goes bad and makes a noise etc. What you are referring to as a plastic insert I'm not familar with. My girlfriend had an '87 and sold the car 1 1/2 years ago and bought an '97 Lesabre. The '97 looks o.k. to do also except the serepentine belt is trapped by the motor mount(needs to be loosened) and is no problem if only not removing it totally. 1992-96 seems the engine needs to be lifted to replace the pump. Good Luck!

p.s. Remove the pully bolts with the belt still on. Also it's sometimes easier to remove the radiator overflow and windshield washer fluid resevoir beforehand.
