The 06's have the 2500 HD type hood. (Raised). They look really tough.

Have to say when the kat eyes came out both me and my wife hated them. But, by the time I got around to buying a new truck it had grown on me and ended up buying an 04. I agree with some of the others, I like that my truck is actually at a decent height to load stuff in the bed without a forklift and skyhook. Sure, GM should put out a few hundred raised body trucks for those who want it, but don't go the FORD/DODGE route of making them ALL 10 feet tall. I may be young, but my back still gets tired.

I vote for the 1972 model. Now those were tough trucks that looked real good.

I like the 99-02 chevy, but I like the new GMC a lot better than the new Chevy, and also better than the 99-02.

I am a little biased being that I own an '02. There arent any body styles that I dont really like though.

I like all the body styles except for the 03 and newer.. I have noticed they slightly changed the 06's but I just do not care for the headlights that much.. I would go with a GMC. The 07's are going to look like the 07 Taho's. So it will be interesting how they do the rest of the cab and bed.

As an aside, since this wasn't listed as a choice, I love the 1973-79 body style. I have a 1977 3/4 ton Silverado and had a 1974 3/4 ton Custom Deluxe back in high school. The '77 has a 350 with a 4 barrel rebuilt Rochester, straight pipes with no emission control to speak of, glass packs, and a TH350 going through a full floating rear axle. It pulls like a freight train, and eats gas like one. I need to get some digital pictures of it.

Well after reading 5 pages of this tread, no one mentioned my favorite year. I have had a 77 scottsdale 1/2, 79 silverado 3/4 w/454, 84 custom deluxe 1/2, 87 silverado 1/2, 98 silverado 1/2 Z71, 05 silverado 1/2 4X4. I go with the 87 same as 84 except head lights went from large rectangular to small rectangular stacked duals. Every truck was bought used except 98 and 05.

Actually, I put on a billet grill insert. Very nice change for the better.

Yes, the 2007 Silverado will get the new fully-boxed frame from the new Tahoe and the rest of it.

So, that means the frame will be a lot stronger then my 2000 Silverado 1500 ?
Cool !, i can use a stronger frame but don't need a 2500.

Hopefully that's true. The frame is definitely a weak link with the half tons. '99 was the worst.

The 06 is the same body style as the from the 03 and up with minor changes.
Chevy redesigns there body about every 3 years. 95-98, 99-02, 03-06

The 07's are going to look like the 07 Taho's.
Not quite. Have you seen them?

I owned a 96 and now an 05, both ext cabs. Love em both. The years in between... 98-02... you can keep em. And by the looks of the 07's in the pics posted earlier, this 05 will be my last Chevy truck... for a while at least. I Just can't get by the looks of it. Really just don't like it. But as always, just my feeble opinion. :2cents:

I think the outside is ok.. it's the inside I really like. Trucks have come a long way from being a redheaded stepchild to now considered to be family vehicle with all the comforts of a luxury vehicle..
I told myself that I would drive my 2000 until the wheels fell off. but all these new features are making me jealous. :)

That's fine, I think you can keep your 03-05, too. If you gave me one, I'd get rid of it to get either an 02 or an 06.

I love the look of the '99-02s, but I think the best looking Silverado (not on the poll questions) is the 2006, Classic 2007. Hands down, just plain awesome looking. Give me one with a 5.3.

Yes and no, the main reason I post on these undying polls is that if I see my name up as the last poster, I know that it is not actually a new post, but some clown who felt the need to dig the poll up from 6 pages back and vote.:bloated:

Will do. Just another reason why there should be a time limit on polls, to prevent them from being resurrected years from now.
