I wanna buy a car manual for my 89 formula. Dose anyone prefer one brand to the other, or are they the same. I guess it dosen't really matter, i'll probibally get the cheaper one anyway.

Honestly, I'd get both. Haynes has some pictures and schematics that Chilton doesn't and vise versa.

I wouldn't waste my money on either one, there both garbage. If you want to buy a manual for you car, go and buy a factory manual, not some thrid part one. If you've ever read either one of those thrid party manuals, there really not written well. They miss step and important issues.

I have the factory manual for my 89 Formula, but it reads like stereo instructions. I also have the Chiltons, and it's better, but the illustrations are terrible. I just bought the Haynes, and I like it better. It's not as technical, which is more my speed, and it's full of photos!
I use all three, but if I had to go with one, I'd take Haynes.

Chiltons is more involved. Haynes is like repair manuals for dummies. Haynes is easier to use but it very vague on most things. The more confusing the book the better the instructions. BTW I have the haynes book you are asking about for my 89 firebird and it's good for a seat booster when the gf has to use it.
