transmission hiss?

When in "Drive", there is a hissing noise coming from what seems to be behind/underneath the column. The loudness of the hiss changes as I apply pressure to the shifter. It does not do it in Neutral, Park, or Reverse. Only in "Drive" and while at a steady speed or idle. Not under acceleration.
It's a 1988 Signature Series with the 5.0 and 70,000 miles
Any ideas?

I'll Bite :2cents:
How about the Parking Brake "automatic release"? The vacuum solenoid is designed to release the parking brake as you slide the shifter from Park, passed Reverse, passed Neutral... then release.
Could be a bad solenoid (I believe it's called a vacuum motor) or just the hoses connected to it.

I thought about that too, but it doesn't have the automatic e-brake release. Anyone else?
